I can tell you, it is better looking ...Dear Esther

I can tell you, it is better looking than my first attempts. When we got married I could not cook. My husband was very brave, he knew my parents and family is great in the kitchen and hoped for me to have the same in my DNA. However, everyone took pity on me, us. Only passed on the most tested and tried recipes. Idiot proof, this turned out to be one of the best and kindest gifts we have received. The bread recipe I use, does not require any kneading. I love to make pastry, it gets all the stiffness out my fingers and hands, especially if I have been quilting for too much lately! If you let me know what you like, I will gladely share the recipes. More time for the fings we love to do. I still try to make the time I spend in the kitchen to be as time efficient as possible. It freed up a lot of time, which I needed to have to cope with everything else life TTY threw at me over the years. It does not matter where the recipe came from, the prove is in the pudding. Many a dud has come from books too. My first cake in the microwave oven was made with the makers recipe that came with the appliance, it was a piece of flexible rubber, we still marvile at what came out of the oven that daylMaggiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09640003667513907210noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8113183995005359036.post-48852388481142093202015-09-24T13:05:37.747+10:002015-09-24T13:05:37.747+10:00I am another who will not join Pinterest due to ho...I am another who will not join Pinterest due to how it sucks away time. But I did have a cake yesterday that was fabulous. One cake mix, 1 small can pumpkin, 1/4 cup water, mix, use cake box time, but check with toothpick for doneness. Top with icing while warm. Use either a chocolate cake or spice cake mix. Try a cake mix - add an extra egg, and 1/2 cup of sour cream. Mix in some nuts and cranberries and you'll have a yummy tea cake. DH will be surprise. That burnt side tells me your oven might have been part of the problem. It gives me such inspiration and I love the links to tutorials. I have also made some Pinterest recipes with only one being a recipe we didn't like. It was bourbon baked beans. I gave the rest of the bottle to my neighbor and he said it was better without the beans. :-) I just copied a Pinterest recipe for Pumpkin Oatmeal Cake to try. Love oatmeal cakes so adding pumpkin should give it a nice flavor.

What I will work on this evening is the finishing touches around the edges of a woolie mat from Crane Designs. It has seashells on it and turned out so pretty. Next I'll do her autumn leaf mat, another pretty design. Love the woolies. Your Oma's Blues is just beautiful as are all your designs. I just made this weekend, the Loaded Tator Tot casserole which was delicious. One recipe that many of my family avoids is a baked shrimp recipe that you see the same photo everywhere. It is rubbery and nasty with no taste. lol I attempted oil pulling since I had the coconut oil and wondered how it worked. Not sure if I was doing it right. So I was not too impressed. I love a good recipe for homemade bread, but most of my pins are quilting related.
