I was lucky enough to attend Frieda Anderson's Laughing Leaves workshop here in Melbourne last week. I have long admired Frieda, so being able to take her class was a real treat.
This is my work above - I love it. It's not quilted yet, but I already have a spot for it at home. I'm so happy.... Why am I so happy? ...because the design is 'free' no rulers, no measuring, no pencil lines...no marking....you just trust you eye and go for it. If you have the opportunity, I recommend that you take this class...and if you don't, you'll just have to make do with visiting Frieda's blog and website where she sells kits. http://friestyle.blogspot.com/
Thanks Frieda, for a great day
Beautiful...I am willing to bet it will be even more so when you add your gorgeous quilting.
ReplyDeleteFabulous work Esther, I just love your design and use of colour - very rich and vibrant.
ReplyDeleteWe were sorry not to be able to be at AQC this year and missed seeing everyone.
Cheers from Cairns where it is still raining!

Hello Esther,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for checking out my blog and your nice comments. Your blog is just beautiful, and I'm going to link it up with mine so I remember to check it out often..... As for hooking with cotton, any fabric works, but wool is the choice of most rug hookers. Easy to work with, lots of texture, and takes dye wonderfully. The wool is pulled through linen, which makes for sturdy rugs and such. Another possibility would be felting with wool, where you could create soft images, kind of 3D and attach. Hope that sort of answers your question.

Great job, be sure and share when it's quilted. I basically did that technique with my tree and it was great fun. No rules!! After all my NYB spikes I really enjoyed that. Love the colors.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love the colors!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, looks like you had a good time.
ReplyDeleteOh Esther,
ReplyDeletethis is a stunningly beautiful design! Conggratulations!
